I have put my transitioning hair away in a protective style to shy away from manipulation for a bit… and the special part about this time, is that I did it all by myself! Yep! I did. I did Crotchet braids using Darling Vogue Curl hair piece.
I prepped my hair by washing and deep conditioning my hair following the routine I shared in this post.
- ORS Hairepair Invigorating Shampoo
- Aunt Jackie’s In control Deep conditioner
- Moroccan Oil Instant Conditioner
- Aunt Jackie’s Knot on my watch detangler
Crochet Braids using Darling Vogue Curl
After air drying my hair, I cornrowed my hair. I cornrowed my hair horizontally at the back and vertically in the front. This process took me about an hour and funny story, I did this while visiting with and chilling with friends *hangs head in shame*.
The next day when I was fresh and ready I attempted Crocheting for the very first time. I made sure that I am nice and comfy. I played my favourite series and I got to work.
This process took about 5 hours. I found that I had to go in again over the tracks because it looked patchy with just one layer per track. But in the end I am very happy with the results.
Time Spent: approx. 5 hours
Fibre used: one pack
Tools used: Crotchet latch hook needle
Duration of protective style: I plan to keep it for 4 weeks
