One thing that I love about liquid lipstick apart from the fact that they are cute, is that they are long lasting. I received Rimmel Stay Matte liquid lipstick courtesy of Ruby Box and I decided to lip swatch and Review them. If you would like to see the swatch video, head on over to my YouTube channel and check it out. Now for the review
I am going to review the lipsticks based on longevity and transfer (which I will review collectively at the end of this post), Shade, Pigmentation and application ease. I applied all lipsticks without lip liners except one which I will mention below.
I decided to divide the lipsticks into two groups. Nudes and bold colours so I am going to start with the Nudes
Rimmel Stay Matte in 110 Blush
The shade of Blush is beautiful and is my kind of nude It’s a soft pink which is quiet flattering but I found it to be very patchy which made application a mission and automatically affects the pigment. I applied more than three coats and it was still patchy. Suffice to say that I didn’t use a lip liner but I need my lipsticks to be able to perform well on their own. I will however try it out with a lip liner and I will post my feedback to Instagram.
Rimmel Stay Matte in 100 Pink Bliss and 200 Pink Blink
Pink bliss and pink blink are also a light pink shades but it’s a bit “harder’ for lack of a better word than Blush. They are very similar in my opinion hence I decided to review them together. They are more pigmented than Blush, still a bit patchy but salvageable. Application is much easier and I like the shade
Rimmel Stay Matte in 700 be my baby
Can I just say… yes I will be your baby!!! I am talking to the shade! It’s a dreamy soft peachy tone. I Love the colour it is definitely for me. The application was also easier and less patchy I could work my way around it.
Rimmel Stay Matte in 710 Latte to go
Latte to go is a bit too light for my skin tone and it hemorrhages on its own. I decided to swatch it with a lip liner because I saw potential. It came out pretty but it’s not a shade that I would reach for it’s just not my colour… an it’s not you it’s me kind of thing. Fortunately the pigment is bomb and it wasn’t patchy at all so big ups for that.
Rimmel Stay Matte in 720 Moca
I found love! I did! I absolutely love Moca. It gives a sort of “your lips but better” feel (even though I have naturally dark lips) and it compliments my skin tone to the tee. The pigment is good and it’s not patchy at all. I am literally going to enclose this in a case with a lock and key from my makeup happy friends and sisters. This is the type of shades that would literally end friendships I love it
Rimmel Stay Matte in 210 Rose and Shine
Rose and Shine is literally the shade of a pink rose. Younger me would have fell deeply in love with this shade no doubt and I would definitely reach for it on days when I am feeling especially girly. I like it, it’s beautiful. It’s not patchy which makes application easy. Two good coats will get the job done
Rimmel Stay Matte in 600 Coral Sass
Coral Sass in my opinion is a neon breed between pink and orange. It’s a pretty shade no doubt but it’d just not for me. I would however wear in on a special occasion should the need arise. This shade was patchy which made application tricky but its pigment is not bad
Rimmel Stay Matte in 500 Fire Starter
Every woman (or man) needs a red lip. No argument because red is beautiful, red is classic and is necessary. Red however is also a hard colour to master to most brands chagrin I assume. So I was very excited to swatch Fire Starter. It passed the test. The application was smooth, the pigment is on par and the shade is stunning. I love it
Rimmel Stay Matte in 820 Heartbeat love
Heartbeat love is a bright breed between purple and pink depending on your eye focus, for me its purpler. I love this shade it is beautiful. The application was easy and the pigment is beautiful.
Rimmel Stay Matte in 810 Plum this show
The minute I applied plum this show I thought about my mother. This shade is her signature lip shade so I fell instantly in love! It’s stunning and classy, its pigment is great! It did however land on my teeth but because it’s my mommy’s signature shade I forgive.
Rimmel Stay Matte in 800 Midnight
You guys know how I feel about dark lippies! They were literally made for me and I like to think that they suit me like second skin. Like your reds, dark colours are also hard to master. Midnight however, was just perfect! I felt so boss in it!!! The application was fair, its very pigmented I approve! I am locking it up with Moca

Longevity, Transfer and overall review
I found the bold colours to be more bomb than the nudes. Except for Moca, Moca in my mind is a unicorn!! The nude shades were mostly patchy and harder to apply.
The lipsticks do not transfer and they dry quickly, I could tell because removing them throughout the swatch video was a mission. Which is a great sign! I also drank from a cup, kissed my fingers and forehand and it came out clean which is a plus.
Longevity is also good. I had a meal and kept Midnight on until bedtime which is good enough for me. So that’s another plus.
Overall I think Rimmel did well with the shade colours they are bomb except for latte to go in my opinion it’s not for girls of my tones I would have to see it on a lighter skin tone for it to win me over. The Bold colours are good and the Nudes could have been less patchy.
My faves were Moca, Midnight, Heartbeat love and Plum this show (because of Cookie)
The Rimmel Stay matte liquid lips are available at Foschini for R119
