Picking out the perfect foundation can be quite a daunting task at first. I remember the very first time I went to go buy my first foundation. It was 2009 and the modelling agency I was signed to (We will talk about this some other time LOL) advised that I needed a photo ready foundation I can’t quite remember why. Anyway, I went and I picked out thee famous Caramel shade in the Revlon Photo Ready Foundation. Honestly speaking I don’t remember how it turned out but the point I am trying to drive home is that I didn’t know that you needed your exact match. Fast forward to 2016 when I got back into the make up scene, I was better equipped with knowledge of foundation shades and the need for the foundation to match my skin tone. It gets easier as you get to know your skin tone and undertones.
Without further ado, I would like to share my foundation collection with you:
My foundation collection.
I have quite a few foundations in my stash both low end and high end and I decided to share them.
Yardley Airbrush Foundation in Caramel Fudge
This was the very first foundation that I bought when I came back into the make up scene in 2016. It is a light coverage foundation. It has a beautiful finish only it doesn’t last on the skin for long. Available at Clicks or Dischem for R 159.95
Loreal Infallible Foundation in 320 Caramel Toffee
I love this foundation so much. It is medium to full coverage buildable, has a dewy finish. Unfortunately my shade has been discontinued so I am salvaging the little that is left. Available at Clicks or Dischem for R 230.00 (But it seems the shade is discontinued )
Maybelline Fit me in 330 Toffee and 332 Golden Caramel
These are my most recent purchase in the low end range. I initially thought I would mix them together to get the perfect shade but I didn’t like how they looked together so I went with the safer option and tried out the darker shade which is 330 and it worked but then, I accidentally used 332 the other day and it was even better so I am happy and I am not complaining that both shades match me to my satisfaction it’s a yay from me and the fact that it’s only R100 is another yay! Available at Clicks or Dischem for R99.95 But when I checked my receipt, for the 332 I paid R110 at Clicks Kolonade!!!
Now moving on to my high end foundation.
Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Perfectly satin Foundation in soft tan
This was my first big purchase. I remember I didn’t know which to choose between the Estee Lauder double wear and this. I am happy with it. It lasts the whole day which is a plus and it is not transferable. So I normally reach for this foundation when I am wearing my whites or when I know I will be extremely busy and I need a foundation that will last me the whole day! Available at Edgars or Redsquare for R475.00
Mac Studio Fix Foundation in NC 44.5
This is the favourite child of the family. I shamelessly say it. I must say that I have so many good things about Mac foundation and I am happy that I decided on purchasing it. It’s just beautiful. It has a flattering dewy finish, golden yellow undertone. It is everything that I love in a foundation. Available at Mac or Edgars even online for R460
And that is my current foundation stash! I have a video up on my youtube channel where I show and demonstrate all of them be sure to check it out I will link it below. Please subscribe to my Youtube channel if you haven’t already I would be happy for you to join the fam!!
